Synopsis: Deadpool Trilogy 1 (2016), 2 (2018), Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)

Deadpool (2016) The first film follows Wade Wilson, a former Special Forces operative turned mercenary, who undergoes surgery for terminal cancer and receives a treatment that ultimately cures him. The treatment accelerates his healing abilities but causes him to incur nasty disfigurement. A new mission will have him seeking the man who bolted his life.

Deadpool 2 (2018) In the sequel, Deadpool finds himself going on new adventures, joining up with other mutants to create the X-Force. And as Wade tries to save a young mutant, Russell, from the time-traveling soldier Cable, the film touches on themes of family and loss and redemption.

Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)  For the third installment, Deadpool teams up with Wolverine to take on a new threat. The film unveils the multi-layered dynamics between the accuser and the accused who are in different ways decomposing by their past and trying to redeem for it. They go up against the telepath and telekinetic mutant Cassandra Nova (played by Harry Melling) and her dastardly schemes with the “Time Ripper” device.

Character Details

Wade Wilson / Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) A smart-ass merc who has a dark sense of humor and fast-healing abilities. Wade’s journey, despite Wade’s flippant attitude, is touched by loss, it’s a redemption search. The third film has him landing in the MCU, where new challenges and alliances await.

James “Logan” Howlett / Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) A mutant with healing powers, retractable claws and an adamantium-infused skeleton. Logan is an alternate-reality X-Man who let his team down. Joining forces with Deadpool allows him to express new facets of his character, including his regrets and drive for a peaceful lifestyle.

Vanessa Wade (Morena Baccarin) Wade as his love interest who serves a catalyst for much of his emotional progress. Her death in “Deadpool 2” weighs heavily on Wade, influencing many of his actions and motivations throughout the film. So if we fast forward through Wade's shenanigans in the post-credit sequences of "Deadpool & Wolverine," we see Wade use time travel to save Vanessa.

Russell (Julian Dennison) A young mutant with pyrokinetic abilities who is at the center of the plot of “Deadpool 2.” Russell's rage and need for revenge fuel the conflict, but ultimately he finds a mentor in Deadpool, who helps him understand his powers and emotions.

Cable (Josh Brolin) A time-traveling soldier out to prevent future tragedies. Cable has a contentious relationship with Deadpool and Russell — he wants to kill Russell at first, and then he teams up with Deadpool to protect him.

Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) An X-Men team member with a mutation that allows him to transform his body into organic steel. Colossus is the straight man to Deadpool's antics, reminding him of teamwork and proper decorum.

Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) A young mutant with explosive abilities who frequently partners with Deadpool. Her savagery possesses an ironic edge, in contrast to Deadpool's comic quips and providing a foil among the team.

Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin) The villain of “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Cassandra is a formidable mutant who possesses both telekinetic and telepathic ability. Her motivations are intensely personal, and her goal is to utilize the “Time Ripper” to exact revenge and reconstruct reality.

These films combine the action-set pieces with humor and heart, creating a story unlike any that exists in the superhero side of things. And one of the other elements at the heart of the trilogy is Deadpool's transformation from a self-interested mercenary to a hero who risks himself for other people, which is made more effective by the variety of compelling figures surrounding him.
