That's how "Abigail" starts (2024), with 12-year-old Abigail (newcomer Julia Bauman), a ballerina, practicing ballet all alone, late night in a near-empty theater. Little does she know that a gang of criminals is planning to kidnap her. They disable the security cameras at her home and slip a tracker underneath her car. As she exits the theater, they trail her to her home, getting into her bedroom, seizing her after a brief struggle. Abigail is sedated and brought outside the city to an old abandoned mansion.
The kidnappers, working under the direction of a man by the name of Lambert, are to keep Abigail under guard until her affluent father pays a fifty-million-dollar ransom. Lambert orders them not to divulge personal information and gives them Rat Pack-themed codenames. And they are Joey, Frank, Peter, Sammy, Rickles, and Dean, each a unique individual with their own story and character.
As night falls, the criminals learn they're stuck in the mansion, complete with electronic security that professional burglars should be able to bypass. It doesn’t take long for them to discover that Abigail is a vampire child, who is playing with them. One by one, the kidnappers are treated to grisly ends, via Abigail or each other, as the situation spins wildly out of control. They attempt several strategies to get away from Abigail or take her down, but her otherworldly powers render her virtually unstoppable.
Things take a much darker turn when it’s revealed that Lambert and Abigail are in cahoots, and the mansion is a trap for those who have wronged Abigail’s crime boss father, Kristof Lazaar. Joey, the last kidnapper standing, has to team up with Abigail to take down Frank, now a vampire. They at least manage to take down Frank, but Joey finds himself having to face Lazaar, who comes to the mansion.
Abigail manages to keep him from killing Joey, knowing she saved her life. Joey releases them, and she drives away with the intention to reunite with her son and start fresh.
