Info in Movie News | Luca Guadagnino's most recent drama thriller "After the Hunt", starring such Hollywood favourites as Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, and Andrew Garfield, has just established its release schedule. The news broke from Variety this Sunday February 16.
The film is scheduled to have a limited release on the 10th of October before being rolled out more widely a week later on the 17th of October 2025. This schedule will position "After the Hunt" in direct competition with "The Black Phone 2", a Universal and Blumhouse production, and "Good Fortune" which boasts a star-studded cast of Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, and Keke Palmer.
"After the Hunt" tells the story of a college professor (Julia Roberts) confronting personal and professional dilemmas as a promising student (Ayo Edebiri) makes damning accusations against one of her colleagues (Andrew Garfield). Other well-known actors like Chloë Sevigny, Michael Stuhlbarg, Thaddea Graham, and many more join the cast.
The film marks Nora Garrett’s debut as a screenplay writer. Garrett additionally worked as an executive producer for Imagine Entertainment with Karen Lunder, as well as Justin Wilkes and Alice Dawson. Executive producers from Imagine Entertainment, Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum, co-produced the film with Jeb Brody and Luca Guadagnino representing their company, Frenesy.
Guadagnino has previously shown two of his own features at the Venice Film Festival. This festival runs a couple of months ahead of "After the Hunt's" proposed release date of 10th October, and it's quite possible the film could have its debut there as well. Screenings in Venice, then, might be a smart move to help build buzz ahead of award season.
Popular on Variety While “After the Hunt” is sure to generate a lot of attention, both Julia Roberts and Luca Guadagnino have a number of other projects in the pipeline. Roberts is set to star in the comedy "Panic Carefully", which is in production.
Whilst "After the Hunt" is in post-production, Luca Guadagnino already has several new film projects lined up. The “Challengers” director will reportedly be teaming up with Daniel Craig for the big-screen adaptation of "Sgt. Rock" that will form part of the DC Universe (DCU) led by James Gunn.
