Daniel Craig Reacts to Amazon MGM Taking the Reins of James Bond Franchise

Info in Movie News |  Daniel Craig has extended his respect and regards to producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli following the news that they have handed over the creative control of the James Bond franchise to Amazon MGM Studios.

"My respect, admiration, and love for Barbara and Michael remain constant and undiminished," Craig stated in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I wish Michael enjoys a long and relaxing retirement (which he well-deserves), and whatever Barbara's next venture is, I know it will be spectacular." He say hope can be part of them.

Craig is known for playing James Bond the most times, starring in five films in the franchise: Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021).

Other than that, Amazon MGM Studios will create new joint venture to control James Bond intellectual property. Under the terms of the new deal, the studio will regain creative control of the franchise while Wilson and Broccoli maintain co-ownership of the property. Amazon had acquired MGM back in 2022, and thus owns the distribution rights of the James Bond films.

The 83-year old Wilson announced he would retire from making film, focusing instead on art and philanthropy. Together with Broccoli he has overseen the creative direction of the James Bond franchise since taking over from their father, the late Albert “Cubby” Broccoli, who launched the hijinks with Dr. No (1962), the first Bond film starring Sean Connery.

“With the conclusion of No Time to Die, and Michael’s retirement, I think it is time to focus on new projects,” Barbara Broccoli said in her statement.

With the series coming to a screeching halt, fans can only wonder as to who will be the new actor wearing the iconic tuxedo, sipping martinis and stepping into Agent 007's shoes in the next round from Amazon MGM Studios.
