According to Dark Horizons, Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane said in an interview with Empire Online this past Tuesday that they are so sure of this and would not do a project close to the fan-favorite character unless he was tonally true to his roots. “For a Marvel show on Disney+, it is unmatched in intensity. Nothing else, I believe, will touch that — not even a baseball stadium scene. This is insane, bigger than anything Netflix ever did,” he said.
However, he also cautioned that the true essence of Daredevil, adopted from Marvel's comic book, now serves the purpose of creating high-intensity episodic arcs that may not be easy for some audiences to watch. The journey of the blind lawyer by day and vigilant superhero by night, tackling criminals in the dark alleys of New York, have always been a symbol of resilience and justice which will only scale up in intensity.
In the same report, Vincent D’Onofrio, who portrayed Wilson Fisk alias Kingpin in Daredevil: Born Again, emphasized that the series will delve deeper into the primal conflicts between Daredevil and his nemesis. He stated, “Watch how every season ends, they fight, Kingpin goes to jail, then he comes back. I don't want that. Their relationship is far more dangerous now. One scene in episode one clarifies everything, the following eight will make it worse.”
In the Marvel universe, Fisk is the Mayor of New York, which places him in a unique position to become a serious threat to Daredevil. It’s an exciting new dynamic for their conflict that promises to heighten the tension of the series even further.
