Martin Scorsese Plans Star-Studded Crime Movie with Dwayne Johnson & DiCaprio, Set in Hawaii

 

Info in Movie News | Renowned director Martin Scorsese is set to surprise audiences with his forthcoming star-studded crime film, set in Hawaii. The film will star Dwayne Johnson, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Emily Blunt, with the screenplay penned by journalist and writer Nick Bilton.

As Reported by The Hollywood Reporter on Friday February 21, 2025, this film, based on a true story, bears similarities to Goodfellas and The Departed, two of Scorsese's famed works. The story will focus on the rivalry among mafia bosses trying to control the Hawaiian Islands in the 1960s and 1970s.

Scorsese will also produce with Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Nick Bilton, Dany Garcia, Lisa Frechette and Rick York.

In the meantime Leonardo DiCaprio is currently in negotiations to headline the adaptation of Erik Larson's bestseller The Devil in the White City, also helmed by Scorsese. The two only keep working together, with previous efforts including Killers of the Flower Moon, The Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island, The Departed, The Aviator, and Gangs of New York.

Meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt are set to star together again in a by A24 biopic, The Smashing Machine, directed by Benny Safdie. Here, Johnson will play the role of ex-wrestler, Mark Kerr. Johnson and Blunt, of course, have previously shared the screen in Disney’s Jungle Cruise (2021).

DiCaprio is also said to appear in co., this year's new film from director Paul Thomas Anderson which Warner Bros. is expected to release by the end of the year.
