Synopsis: Daredevil Season 3 (2018) Series

After the events of The Defenders, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is a battered and broken man when a building falls on top of him. He is secretly rescued by his friends, presumed dead, and brought to Saint Agnes Orphanage, where he grew up as a child. As he gradually recuperates with the assistance of Sister Maggie (Joanne Whalley) and Father Paul Lantom (Peter McRobbie), Matt grapples with a crisis of faith, suspecting that his destined role as Daredevil could be more of a curse than a gift.

Meanwhile, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), the one-time Kingpin of Hell’s Kitchen, strikes an outrageous deal with the FBI, clearing the way for his epic comeback.

Matt’s Crisis and Fisk’s Rise

As Matt goes solitary, his best buddies Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) grapple with their pal’s presumed demise. Now working as a reporter, Karen investigates crime in Hell’s Kitchen, while Foggy is thinking about leaving the legal profession.

While in prison, Wilson Fisk devises a plan to escape. The Frenchman, under the alias FBI Agent Ray Nadeem (Jay Ali), is tasked with dealing with Fisk’s cooperation while drowning in low-level crime financial stress. Fisk engineers events so that he comes off as a vulnerable informant, which leads to an ambush that lets him be moved from prison to a fancy penthouse under the protection of the F.B.I.

Coming on the heels of Fischer’s release, the New York media works up a frenzy about this man looking for redemption. But in the shadows, he tightens his control over the city, bribing officials, killing rivals and making plans to regain his criminal empire.

The Emergence of Bullseye

Fisk’s most formidable weapon comes in the form of Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter (Wilson Bethel), an FBI agent with a dark history and a penchant for turning everyday items into deadly weapons. Fisk manipulates a psychologically unstable Poindexter to become his personal assassin.

In an effort to destroy Daredevil’s reputation and enflame public opinion against him, Fisk has Poindexter impersonate Daredevil, carrying out bloody assaults in Matt’s signature suit. This creates havoc, because the city thinks Daredevil has become a murderer.

Meanwhile, Matt returns to the action, but he is not wearing his signature red suit; he is donning his original black vigilante get-up, and is hell bent on bringing Fisk down without leaning too heavily on the identity he used to embody.

Karen’s Backstory and Foggy’s Stance

Karen, who’s holding on to the guilt of having killed in the past, finally explains that she had killed Fisk’s best friend, the menacing James Wesley, in self-defense. Fisk’s power expands, and she becomes a primary target. She goes to his penthouse and challenges Fisk publicly, tauntingly.

Foggy, unwilling to let Fisk break the system, runs for District Attorney, planning to take Fisk Down in the courts. But Fisk’s clout runs deep, rendering him virtually untouchable.

The Final Showdown

Matt has reached his breaking point with the city against him and Fisk apparently untouchable. He thinks about killing Fisk to finally end his reign. In the final fight, Matt, Poindexter (a.k.a. Bullseye) and Fisk fight in a brutal three-way battle. Poindexter, who realizes that he has been used by Fisk, turns against him, but is ultimately overpowered and left paralyzed.

In an uncompromising final battle, Matt viciously beats Fisk, but refrains from killing him — demonstrating that he’s not the monster that Fisk hoped he’d become. Fisk, vanquished, accepts a prison sentence on the condition that his beloved wife, Vanessa, will not be charged with his crimes.

As they put Fisk away again, Matt, Karen and Foggy come back together and choose to rebuild their law firm and work together to fight for justice.
