Info in Movie News | While many fans are left in anticipation for the upcoming series, Harry Potter alumni have shown their whole-hearted support for the new endeavor.
Jason Isaacs, who is now an iconic nemesis of the main character as Lucius Malfoy, said he believed that the new cast would be a good fit, due to their showrunner Mark Mylod's work. Rather than giving advice to the new stars, Isaacs said he had absolute trust, as well as respect for the showrunner Mark Mylod and the cast,
"They don't need any direction from me," said Isaacs, as quoted from Screen Rant on Sunday.
Previously, the series also received support from former lead actor of Harry Potter films, Daniel Radcliffe. He stated that it would be very 'cool' to see the torch get passed.
Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger, once wrote on her Instagram account regarding her character Hermione Granger: "Harry Potter is my home, my family, my world, and Hermione remains my favorite fictional character of all time".
To mark the 20th anniversary of the first movie, Watson penned this declaration.
Ladbible noted in its report from January 2023, Rupert Grint, famed for his role as Ron Wesley, was asked about his experiences in the Wizarding World. This happened while he was promoting his suspense film, Knock At The Cabin, in an ITV's This Morning segment.
When asked about his character Ron, and whether he'd be against reprising his role, Grint commented, "I think if the timing was right and everyone was coming back. It was a character that was important to me, we kind of became the same person. I'm protective of him (red: Ron) as well. It was my whole childhood."
Even Chris Columbus, who directed the first two films in the franchise adapted from J.K. Rowling's best-selling books, namely Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, as reported by Deadline, approves of HBO’s television reboot, calling it a "spectacular idea."
Although the release date for the series hasn't been set, CEO of Warner Bros Discovery, David Zaslav, revealed that the series is set to release in 2026, with production commencing in 2025.
More than 32,000 people have auditioned for the lead in the series. It is a sign of the stiff competition to secure a part in this hotly anticipated series.
The newly chosen cast members will have the daunting task of living up to the acclaim of the original Harry Potter trio. But their seniors have confidence in them to give of their best.
Warner Bros Discovery said that each season of the series will be based on one of the original seven Harry Potter books, cited CNA. The writer of the Harry Potter novels, J.K. Rowling, is listed as an executive producer, too.
Meanwhile, screenwriting and directing will be handled by Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, who previously made the hit HBO series “Succession.”
The series doesn't begin filming until summer 2025 at Leavesden, but HBO has previously confirmed that shooting will begin soon.
