Disney Brings Family Magic to Live-Action Lilo & Stitch

Info in Movie News | Disney is bringing its magic back with a live-action adaptation of one of their iconic animations. This time, Lilo & Stitch promises to carry audiences down memory lane with a heartwarming story about friendship and family. Slated for release on May 23, 2025, the film is hoped to be one of Disney's biggest releases this year.

According to Collider, director Dean Fleischer Camp, previously successful with Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, is trusted to head this project. Given his history of rendering heartfelt and meaningful stories, Camp faces a major challenge in safeguarding the Lilo & Stitch's heart which has been loved for over two decades.

The plot is still about family and tolerance of others, after all, a little girl, Lilo (Maia Kealoha) meets a strange creature with the name of Stitch. Stitch all along was thought to be a serious threat however, his heart would never have thought of any other place except beside Lilo and her sister, Nani (Sydney Agudong), with them and their lives being so warm. In addition to that, the scenes in the movie have threats from outer space that they are dealing with. Which made them test the true meaning of the word 'Ohana'—in Hawaiian, family.

Disney's live-action type of movies which are a pattern at the moment, Lilo & Stitch is to be a follow-up that should be just as successful as The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. The visual effects of the film will be more advanced and the approach will be much more emotional in order to entice not only the generation that brings back lots of memories with the animated movie but also those audiences that are ready to make friends with the story.
