Stranger Things S1 (2016)

In November of 1983, the small town of Hawkins, Indiana, Teresa Lane, is rocked when Will Byers disappears in a very strange way on his way home. His mother, Joyce Byers has time transporting him when she believes that it is Will who is reaching her through flickering lights. At the same time, the police chief of the town, who is Jim Hopper, starts to investigate the case and in the process the bulker of horror comes up.

As the search ramps up, Nancy Wheeler, Mike’s elder sister, delves into the disappearance of her best friend, Barb, who was also abducted by the Demogorgon. Nancy joins forces with Jonathan Byers, the older brother of Will and together they get to know a lot of scary information about the Hawkins National Laboratory since it has been engaging in top-secret government projects that are about psychic kids like Eleven. The supervisor of the center, Dr. Martin Brenner, after all the powers he lost, is the one who is hunting Eleven, as he wants to catch her. Moreover, Hopper concludes that the government is trying to substitute the truth of Will’s disappearance by covering it up with a false version of events.

During the final conflict, Joyce and Hopper delve into the world of the Upside Down and bring back Will, the young boy they are looking for, Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve Harrington give a big battle to kill the Demogorgon. Also, Eleven during all the commotion utilizes her abilities to demolish the creature, which in turn causes her to shimmer. Eventuafter, Will is a- okay, when they get him home, but it is clear that a connection to the Upside Down of the sort is still pending, the last scene is of the boy who obligingly spits up a slug-like creature. Hopper on the other hand makes it super obvious that he leaves Eggo waffles in the woods, which makes us think that Eleven is probably alive. Season 1 of Stranger Things ends in a cliffhanger that leaves more questions than it answers and sets the canvas for the next season full of dark threats.

A year after the rescue of Will Byers from the Upside Down, Hawkins is still under the shadow of its dark past. Will starts to have disgusting images of a gargantuan, shadowy creature that has tentacles—Mind Flayer, which looks like it’s taking over his mind. In the meantime, Eleven, triumphed over the Demogorgon, and is hiding with Jim Hopper, and dreams of a reunion with Mike Wheeler. A new girl, Max Mayfield, that does catch Lucas Sinclair and Dustin Henderson's attention, is the latest entry to the town, whereas an ill-tempered step-brother, Billy Hargrove, creates a stir.

Will is possessed by the Mind Flayer, and it seems that the Mind Flayer is acting through him which is the reason why he becomes a spy for it. Joyce Byers and Hopper went to Dr. Sam Owens, who is now in charge of Hawkins Lab, but they did not succeed to stop the Mind Flayer from spreading his influence. At the same time, Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers reveal the participation of the lab in Barbara Holland's death with the help of the conspiracy theorist Murray Bauman. Elsewhere, Dustin finds a bizarre creature, named Dart, that he brings home and at the beginning, he thinks it is only a pet. Of course, he later realizes that it is a baby Demodog—a monster from the Upside Down. Eleven, looking for her background, discovers her mother and a sequel to the psychic experiment, Kali (Eight), but she decides in the end to come back home.

Hopper and Eleven are the two heroes who successfully manage to infiltrate Hawkins Lab to close the Upside-Down portal. Thus, Joye, Jonathan, and Nancy can use heat to cleanse Will's body from the Mind Flayer. Also, during these action-packed hours, Steve, with the help of Dustin, Lucas, and Max, tackles a group of Demodogs. Eleven taps into her full power to seal the gate, cutting off the Mind Flayer’s influence. A month later, Hawkins seems peaceful, but Will briefly sees the Upside Down again, and the Mind Flayer looms ominously over the town, signaling its return.

Though Vecna is hurt, he does what he has to carry it on across Hawkins and makes giant doors appear to the Upside Down.
