Info in Movie News | Good news for fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender – Aang and their crew will be seen soon on the big screen! The much-anticipated animated movie is finally called "The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender" and it is going to be released in cinemas on January 30, 2026. The film will take the viewers on a journey many years after the first series and will be focused on Aang and the other now older characters as they fight to prevent the world from another war with the Fire Nation and still seek solutions for the best possible recovery of the world.
According to Collider, the movie is bringing in some big names to the voice cast. Speaking of The Legend of Korra, you will be glad to know that Steven Yeun himself has just become a part of the new project. Alongside him, Dave Bautista, who is famous for his action roles, will play the bad guy, thus combining two different sides of the character. Additionally, as one of the most anticipated news in the voice-acting industry, Dante Basco is presenting himself as the voice of Zuko once again, thus giving his voice to one of the most iconic figures in the original series. This mixture of the "old" and the "new" guarantees that we will have really high goals to achieve the success of both.
However, it's not Netflix's only project surrounding the Avatar universe that we are looking forward to. Namely, the video streaming platform has launched the production of the series live-action version's second and third seasons, and as yet, there has been no official information announced about the release dates of the new episodes. Meanwhile, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are working on a new animated series entitled Avatar: Seven Havens. Set after The Legend of Korra, the show will introduce an earthbending Avatar who is feared rather than revered, shaking up the franchise in a big way.
If you take in the amount of new projects that Avatar have been in production then it is quite clear that it is a franchise to stay. Whether the return of Aang makes you excited, the new Avatar is out of mere curiosity, or you are just waiting for the next live-action chapter, a lot of things are planned ahead for you. Mark your calendars—2026 can’t come soon enough!
