Info in Movie News | The upcoming Madden biopic just leveled up its cast. With Nicolas Cage already set to play NFL legend John Madden, the project is now looking to bring in more star power.

According to Deadline, Amazon MGM Studios is having discussions with John Mulaney, Kathryn Hahn, and Sienna Miller to star in the movie. Mulaney's part would see him portray Trip Hawkins, who is the inventor of EA Sports and a key man driving the Madden NFL video game franchise. Hahn would take on the role of Madden’s wife, Virginia, while Miller is in line to portray Carol, wife of late Raiders owner Al Davis, who will be played by Christian Bale.

The movie is directed by David O. Russell, who also penned the latest version of the script. Production is expected to kick off next month in Atlanta, with Todd Black producing under the Escape Artists banner alongside Russell, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Jonathan Shukat.

The new title of the film will focus on the development of the former Super Bowl-winning coach, who fans didn't know was to take up a role in sports broadcasting and who became the front man for a billion-dollar gaming franchise.

This is the fourth project that Russell and Bale have jointly worked on, with Amsterdam, American Hustle, and The Fighter being the prior ones. Bale's first Academy Award was for The Fighter. For Mulaney, this part is a huge transition to dramatic acting, it follows the hit of his show Everyone's Live with John Mulaney on Netflix. Hahn has also been on a roll with her Marvel series Agatha All Along and Apple TV+’s The Studio, while Miller recently worked with Kevin Costner on Horizon: An American Saga.

With this kind of cast and story, Madden is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about biopic movies in the sports world.
