Info in Movie News | Last week, the internet was weirdly obsessed with a bunch of empty chairs. This week? All eyes are locked on the stage at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, where CinemaCon 2025 is in full swing. Sony wasted no time in making a huge splash, finally giving fans the long-awaited update on the fourth installment of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man series.
Not only did we get confirmation that the film is officially happening, but it now has a title: Spider-Man: Brand New Day—and it’s swinging into theaters on July 31, 2026.
Director Destin Daniel Cretton graced the stage with his presence for a few minutes and shared some details, but the surprises were yet to come. It was the moment that Tom Holland sent a special message through a video that the audience was ecstatic. The director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) suggested that the upcoming movie is going to be continued directly following the emotional cliffhanger from Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)—with Peter Parker being in a real mess of problems.
Sadie Sink Joins the MCU – But Who Is She Playing?
One actress we know is joining Holland for this next chapter is Sadie Sink. The Stranger Things and The Whale star was officially cast in March, but who she’s playing is still a mystery.
The fans are excited with their wild theories. They have gone as far as suggesting Spider-Gwen, Firestar and Jean Grey from X-Men. If the last theory is the right one, Sink would have to play the role that was done by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner. That is, indeed, quite a change.
When asked about the rumors on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Sink played it cool, saying:
“No, I have nothing to say about this. The rumors are really cool, though. It’s an awesome rumor.”
Sounds like someone’s hiding something!
Beyond Sink, there’s also growing speculation that Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) might make an appearance. Since Destin Daniel Cretton is directing, and Liu is already set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, a crossover doesn’t seem too far-fetched. But for now, Liu is staying quiet.
What’s Next for Peter Parker?
If you remember, Spider-Man: No Way Home was concluded with a harsh and mind-boggling twist where everyone in the world forgot that Peter Parker was existing. All was due to a spell from Doctor Strange that went wrong (Benedict Cumberbatch), even MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) had no recollection at all.
Now, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will deal with the consequences of that game-changing moment. Peter is completely on his own, with no Avengers, no allies, and no one who even remembers his name.
Director Destin Daniel Cretton teased that the film will directly explore how this massive reset affects Peter’s future in the MCU. It’s unclear if this means he’ll try to rebuild old relationships or embrace his new status as a complete unknown—but either way, it’s going to be a whole new chapter for Spidey.
Fans are also hoping this film finally brings Venom into the mix. With the tease at the end of No Way Home, the idea of Topher Grace (Spider-Man 3) and Tom Hardy (Venom) crossing paths would be absolute gold.
There is a possible change in direction of Spider-Man. Since the movie is called Brand New Day, one can suspect a new Spider-Man adventure from the film's title. Is Peter going to figure out a way to get back his older life, or is he instead going to get into a situation that is even more intense?
The question will now be answered on the 31st of July, 2026!
