Tron: Ares, is Almost Here! Jared Leto Becomes a Deadly Program in Reality

Info in Movie News | Brace yourself as Tron: Ares will pull us back into the digital world again very soon. Disney’s Tron: Legacy was released 10 years ago, and after a long wait, its sequel is finally officially confirmed with Jared Leto being the most powerful player as a program named Ares who jumps from the digital world to the real world. Directed by Joachim Rønning (Young Woman and the Sea), Tron franchise is going to explore the never-before-explored space in this new chapter.

According to Collider, the first ever clips from Tron: Ares were displayed at a CinemaCon 2024 session that was held in Las Vegas, and it became a moment of great excitement for fans. As per the sneak peek, the trailer unfolds with two red motorcycles racing on a road. They then shoot lasers that cut the police cars in equal halves. Someone speaks in a mysterious voice, “I’m looking for something, something I do not understand.” All of a sudden the red neon lights take over the city and the Grid starts to merge with the reality, scaring the lives of people. The short scene shows Ares looking surprised face covered by red light while Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) speaks out, “Ready? 'Cause there's no going back.”

By taking the Tron programs from the digital realm to the human world for the first time, the movie has made the stakes even higher than ever. The presence of Leto gives the movie more credit, and besides him, there is a fabulous lineup of actors in the movie, such as Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Sarah Desjardins. And, here comes the shock - Nine Inch Nails will be in charge of the movie's soundtrack! Their music will definitely follow in the steps of Wendy Carlos’ and Daft Punk’s, being sure to bring some sophisticated and aggressive vibes to the Tron universe.

Surely, Evan Peters' part in the movie as Julian Dillinger was one of the biggest surprises for fans of Tron who have been there from the beginning. The name Julian Dillinger should be viewed as a violation sign for anybody aware of the history of the franchise. In the classic Tron, Ed Dillinger (David Warner) was the wicked ENCOM executive, and his son, Ed Dillinger Jr. (Cillian Murphy), appeared for a moment in Tron: Legacy. The above note implies deeper explanations of the Dillinger family's relation to the Tron world.

From the information provided by Rønning in his talk with Collider, the movie was ready at the beginning of November in 2024. Now, it is just some fine-tuning and possibly those new scenes. "We have an A-to-Z movie, and now it’s just about tightening things up. We’ll keep working on it through summer," Rønning stated.

Tron: Ares has already been scheduled for release by Disney on October 10, 2025. In the meantime, you can use Tron and Tron: Legacy on Disney+ to remember the story, and as a result, you will be well-prepared for the movie. Be aware of the fact that the Grid has never been so close to communication as it is this time!
