Vegeta Defeats Goku? Dragon Ball Super Manga Reveals Surprising Outcome

Info in Movie News | It is finally apparent to all fans of Dragon Ball that the debate regarding masters Goku and Vegeta has the real answer. The newest issue of the Dragon Ball Super manga obviously solves the question, with the official announcement coming from the manga itself.

According to Collider, manga artist Toyotarou confirmed that Vegeta does defeat Goku in their latest sparring match, which fans first saw in the post-credits scene of the 2022 movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. What makes it even more significant is that this outcome wasn’t just for shock value, it was approved by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama himself before his passing. Toyotarou said he drew the scene again for Volume 24 of the manga after directly asking Toriyama who would win in a straight-up fight.

“I ended up drawing the fight on Beerus’ planet in Volume 24 after asking Toriyama that exact question. Of course, I’d prefer if you read the book to find out more, but there’s a reason I included that scene,” Toyotarou explained in an official interview on the franchise’s website.

The new volume doesn’t just revisit Goku vs. Vegeta, it expands on the original movie, adding new story elements and characters like Piccolo, Broly, and Gohan into the mix.

As for what's next in the Dragon Ball universe, things are still a bit uncertain following Toriyama’s death. Dragon Ball DAIMA wrapped up recently and wasn’t intended to be a long-running series, so a second season is unlikely. Still, with Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero now three years old, a new film or series could be in the works.

Until we hear more, fans can revisit the action by streaming Dragon Ball Super: Broly on Crunchyroll.
